What Are You Chasing?

STATUS ANXIETY IS THRIVING.

It’s the pressure we put on ourselves to be in a perpetual advancement in our career for the sake of being known as important. It is the power of being elite.

The problem with this self-imposed pressure is that it never ends and is rarely met with satisfactory achievement. Rather, we become self-absorbed and blind to the needs and dreams of others. It isn’t an effective platform for leadership.

When we attach our value to externalities, we are not in control. We allow others to plot our career path. We settle for meaningless roles as long as they possess an air of importance.

Ultimately, our value comes from God. As our Creator, He considers us His child.

“BEHOLD WHAT MANNER OF LOVE THE FATHER HAS BESTOWED ON US, THAT WE SHOULD BE CALLED CHILDREN OF GOD!” 1 JOHN 3:1

Think carefully about how you determine your value. It isn’t found in the title of a position, your level of income, or the trappings of your lifestyle. It is solely found in the love that God has for you as His beloved child.
