Knowing Christ
You Can Have a Relationship with Christ. Today!
Jesus lived on earth and now prepares a place for those who accept him as the Christ (the Messiah who will return to earth one day and take those who trust Him to their eternal life in heaven). So, how does that work? How can we know and trust Jesus in a way that sets us apart for His return? How can we know Him so that we have a personal relationship with Him now, and where can we go to Him in prayer?
Here’s how:
Understand that you need salvation: The Bible teaches that all people have sinned and fallen short of God's glory (Romans 3:23). This separation from God brings spiritual death.
Believe in Jesus Christ: Recognize Jesus as the Son of God, sent to Earth to die for your sins. His sacrifice on the cross provides forgiveness and the possibility of reconciliation with God (John 3:16).
Repent of your sins: Acknowledge your wrongdoing and turn away from a life of sin. This doesn't require perfection but a sincere desire to change your direction (Acts 2:38).
Put your faith in Jesus: This means believing that Jesus is your Lord and Savior, trusting completely in His sacrifice for your salvation (Romans 10:9).
Pray to God: Talk to God from your heart. You can use your own words to express your desire to follow Jesus and receive His forgiveness.
Here's a suggested prayer:
"Dear God, I recognize that I am a sinner and need your forgiveness. Thank you for sending your Son, Jesus Christ, to die for me. I believe in Him and His sacrifice. I repent of my sins and turn away from them. Come into my heart and be my Lord and Savior. Amen."
Remember, salvation is a gift from God, received through faith in Jesus Christ. It's not about earning it through good works.
Following these steps is a starting point. If you'd like to learn more about growing your faith, consider reading the Bible, especially the Gospel of John, or talking to a pastor or Christian mentor.
